How to Detox on a Self-Care Sunday with clean skincare!

selfcare sunday

It’s Sunday, the day before the dreaded work week begins, so a little Self-care Sunday time is necessary to mentally prepare for the onslaught of the week ahead. If you’re starting your work week with a dull, tired complexion, it might be time to consider a detox. Luckily, no juice cleanse is required, just access to some key amazing clean skincare products and a pot of boiling water (we’ll explain). Your skin will emerge from our clean beauty six-step skin revitalising pamper session feeling refreshed and renewed—like you’ve just spent a week at a 5star spa (well, maybe not quite on that level but close). Get ready to reset and go back to your former glowy, er, glory days?
Keep scrolling to find out exactly how to detox your skin for that dewy youthful glow!

Step 1: Double-Cleanse – never use a bar of soap for cleansing!

The first step to recovery? Starting with a clean palate. All that contouring, defining, and blending you did over the week was great for your makeup technique—not so great for your skin. To make sure you are cleansing your skin thoroughly and starting your detox correctly, make sure you are double cleansing.

First, use an oil-based cleanser to first to melt off oil-based makeup residue. Our choice is the Go-To Skincare Fancy Face oil cleanser.

2nd Cleanse

Cleansing your face twice might seem excessive (not to mention time-consuming), but it’s vital to a clear complexion.

Then your everyday clean beauty cleanser afterward, we like the Sunday Riley Ceramic Skin cleanser.

Step 2: Exfoliate and Renew

To bring back your baby-soft skin, use a gentle exfoliator like our iGETU Botanicals Detoxifying and Brightening Face Mask and Scrub.
This will help your daily cleanser do its job and help buff away dead skin cells. The Australian botanicals and minerals complement each other to actively draw the impurities from the skin and allow your skin to pull in the active botanicals ingredients in to leave your skin feeling refreshed with that dewy glow.

Step 3: Steam Your Face

During your skin detox, it’s full steam ahead—literally. A DIY facial steam treats your pores, while also releasing toxins, dirt, and debris. Plus, the products you apply afterward will penetrate down into your epidermis much deeper. To steam your face, bring water to a boil, remove it from the heat, and customize your steam facial for your skin type by adding fresh or dried herbs to the boiling water. We’re using parsley because it acts as a natural astringent, drawing out toxins and impurities in pores. If your skin is dry or sensitive, try a soothing ingredient like chamomile instead. Licorice root and mint are also great detoxifiers that work on all skin types. Lean over the water basin, keeping your face about 20cm from the water, and drape a towel over your head to create a tent. Sit like this and steam your face for about five to 10 minutes to clear out your pores.

Step 4: Add that antioxidant barrier

Now to work to block out the free radicals and gain that intense hydration to help prevent that dull, sallow looking skin. The ingredients in our iGETU Botanicals Intensive Hydration Serum work together to provide your skin with an active protective barrier to fight against the free radicals that cause aging, as well as giving it much needed hydration leaving your skin looking and feeling fresh, plump and luminous. The unique bio-actives of Kakadu Plum, Finger Lime Caviar, Rosella Berry along with Mountain Pepper Berry Leaf extract are outstanding antioxidants to provide your skin not onlu with a protective barrier to help fight against free radicals, but also aid in reversing the phyto damage already present due to sun exposure and pollution. Both Kakadu Plum and Mountain Pepper Berry Leaf have the highest levels of their active components in the world. Kakadu Plum being vitamin C and Mountain Pepper Berry Leaf being active antioxidant. Couple these powerful irreplaceable extracts with the hydration power of sugar cane derived hyaluronic acid, and this serum packs a punch and is safe to use for any skin type.

Step 5: Let Your Skin Breathe

Just breathe; a mindset you should apply to your skin. Allowing your skin to breathe is vitally important for a deep cleanse. After a week of heavy makeup, it’s time to give your skin a break. Surrender your favourite foundation and let your skin breathe for a day (or more, preferably). A light moisturizer, like our iGETU Botanicals Intensive Moisurising Lotion will seal in all your work in the previous steps without clogging your pores. It brightens, tackles fine lines and pigmentation as well as packing a punch with antioxidants.

A perfect and unique blend of bio active Native Australian Extracts of Kakadu Plum, Quandong, Mountain Pepper Leaf and Native Seaweed is supported by nourishing oils of Australian Native Sandalwood, Rose hip, Squalane and Shea Butter. These are all blended with Kunzea Hydrosol and Aloe Vera juice to calm and deliver a luxurious skin feel and the most heavenly scent of the Australian Bush.

Step 6: Don't Forget Clean Eating

Glowing, radiant skin starts from within—which is why you should also consider forgoing some trigger foods like dairy, sugar and coffee during your skin detox. Detoxing from the inside out will benefit not only your skin but also your body.
